8 Real Ways to Create Extra Income at Home as a Full-Time Mom
Hey mama!!
I know what it’s like to be on the search for a job so you can help contribute to the house while staying home with your kids. Trying to find something that works around your family feels hard—but it’s not impossible. Here are some real ways I’ve tried to bring in extra income from home.

1. Become a Virtual Assistant
I became a Virtual Assistant after I had my daughter. I was looking for work-from-home jobs but couldn’t find anything flexible enough for me. So, I thought, Why not work for myself? And I did.
It’s been a game changer to make my own schedule, take time off when needed, and still be fully present with my family. My husband was in the military and deployed at the time, so I took a chance on myself—and I’m so glad I did.

2. Become a Video Editor
There are so many people in the online space who need video content edited. Thanks to TikTok, YouTube, and podcasts blowing up. And let’s be honest… no one really wants to do the editing.
The best part? You don’t need a ton to get started. You can edit any style of video as long as you’re willing to learn. Every client is different, so you’ll gain experience along the way.
You can start with apps like InShot or CapCut.
Just a heads-up: storage can become an issue, so you’ll want to invest in a place to store your files—Google Drive or Dropbox work great.
3. Write a Book or Create a Digital Product
I created a prayer journal using Amazon KDP, and it was super easy. I learned everything I needed from a Canva course. You only need Canva and Amazon KDP—both are free to use.
The key to success here is marketing. Amazon handles the printing and shipping, but you’ll need a way to get eyes on your product.
Creating a digital product is another great way to earn extra income. All you need is Canva and a platform like Gumroad or Stripe to sell it. I’ll be writing a blog post soon that breaks down all the tools I’ve used to get started.
4. Become a UGC Creator
You can create content for brands without needing followers. The brand posts the content on their platforms, not yours. It could show up on their websites, Instagram, ads, or wherever they decide.
I’ve written a whole blog post about how to become a UGC creator and get brands to come to you instead of pitching.
5. Become a Social Media Manager
There are tons of small business owners online who need help managing their social media. You could be the one creating strategies, editing videos, writing captions, or scheduling content.
If you love marketing or planning content, this is a great fit and a solid side hustle to bring in some extra income from home.
6. Become an Amazon Influencer
This one is great for bringing in passive income. It’s essentially affiliate marketing through Amazon. You get a storefront, and when people buy through your link, you earn a commission.
You can also upload Amazon Shoppable Videos, and if someone purchases after watching, you’ll earn from that too. The best part? Your content lives on Amazon—you don’t need to post it on social media if you don’t want to.
Check out Carissa’s platform. I haven’t taken her course, but from what I’ve seen and heard, she’s helping a lot of women make money from home with this.
7. Affiliate Marketing with Pinterest
This is a new one I’m testing out. Especially since I’ve added another baby to the mix. I needed something that could work for me in the background.
I’ve had an Amazon storefront, but I didn’t realize how much traffic Pinterest could send my way. I took a course in July 2025 and started implementing it. I’ll give it time and report back, but so far, I love how hands-off it feels.
If you want a side hustle that doesn’t keep you glued to your phone all day, Pinterest might be your new best friend.
8. Starting a Blog
This is the most recent thing I’ve added and I’m pairing it with my Pinterest strategy. I’m focusing on SEO and creating content people are already searching for.
With a blog, you can:
- Promote your own digital products
- Add ads for passive income
- Collaborate with brands
I love it because I can write a post while my kids are playing next to me. Right now, I’m doing two posts a week to build consistency. I’ll share an update next year on how it’s going!
There are so many ways to bring in extra income from home as a stay-at-home mom. These are just a few I’ve tried and there are tons more out there.
Don’t be afraid to try something new and see what fits you best. You never know which side hustle might change your life.
